About me


Ahmed Elguindy is Principle at Guindy Consulting advising electric utilities on integrating emerging technologies / smart grid elements into their business strategies. His work is primarily focused on creating value and tangible results to the customers, drawn from a wide range of methodologies, technical knowledge, and tools, gained through more than 10 years of experience in both developed and developing markets in MENA region, Germany, and Southern Africa. Throughout his career, Mr Elguindy led cross-functional teams in various e-mobility consultancy engagements generating actionable insights and developing quantitative models to estimate uptake / energy demand of electric vehicles by 2035.

Between 2019 and 2021, Mr Elguindy was a university lecturer at the German university in Cairo (GUC) at the mechatronics department, offering lectures for senior undergraduate students on cyber-physical systems and smart grid systems, particularly focused on the integration of renewable energy systems and electric vehicles into utility grids. Mr Elguindy was a development advisor for RE and emerging technologies at the German Development Cooperation (GIZ GmbH) in Egypt; his tasks included advisory responsibilities on a strategic level for several stakeholders in the sector to meet the national mandate of supplying 42% from renewables by 2035. His primary stakeholders included the Renewable Energy Authority (NREA), the Egyptian Electricity Utility and Consumer Protection Regulatory Agency (EgyptERA) and the Egyptian Transmission Company (EETC). 

Mr Elguindy received the Dr.-Ing. degree from the Technical University of Munich (TUM), Germany in early 2018. His thesis focused on the technical challenges associated with the integration of variable renewable energies into the utility grid and its implications on the stability of the transmission network. Prior to his PhD, Mr Elguindy, between 2014 and 2015, worked as a project engineer / power plant automation at a 450 MW combined cycle thermal plant in Munich, Germany, owned by Munich City Utilities.
